Flashback Fashion Illustration

Time: 2-3 hours

Hi everyone, sorry I’ve been MIA, but I’ve done this fashion illustration for a history project. I was kind of inspired by the 1700s, being that is when my person was born. Anyways, I loved the hooded capes shown as I was researching, but I really wanted to do just a regular old fashioned cape, and the next illustration should have a cape though. Many of the people I showed this to said, it looked like a cross over between Red Riding Hood & Belle. I guess this could be true because of the red cape and the yellow/gold dress, plus the hair.
I've been recently using my new Copic Sketch Markers, and I love how easy it is to blend the color out. Plus these markers come in a variety of colors, basically almost every color imaginable. Another amazing thing about these markers is, they have an airbrush attachment.
From what I've seen in videos/pictures, it's pretty simple to use. The only con with these markers is the price, but still, great quality art supplies sometimes doesn't come cheap.
The Prisma Color- Colorless Blender is also very amazing marker. If I ever mess up, or go "outside the lines" I'll just pop this baby out, and it disappears. It's a great equivalent to white-out, but for makers.

Speaking of white-out, I used some for the highlights in her eyes, just to make sure she doesn't look "dead". I have learned, using highlights can really bring a piece to life. I love using this, but I wish they sold this in individual packages because the two pack is quite expensive for my taste. I usually use something different, but I couldn't find it, and for the life of me I can't recall the name of this product.

I've also recently been loving Micron's fine liners, their point

blank- amazing. For this illustration, I used the 0.05mm which is extremely skinny/small, which I personally love. I try to use the other sizes as often as I use this one, so it doesn't run out quickly. But I can't help it sometimes because because my go to sizes are usually 0.05, (although I think it's 0.005) and 0.01. If I ever go higher, it's usually for bigger illustrations or "coloring" something in. I know I'll probably use the other sizes more often soon, but right now I'm in the small and barely visible phase.

The sketchbook/paper I used, is the Strathmore Mixed Media: Visual Journal. I find it works extremely well with Copics, since they can tend to bleed through certain paper, and this is quite thick. Even though I recently got it, I can say I will definitely be purchasing this again in the near future. A very awesome fact about this paper is, it's acid free! I believe I read somewhere, acid free paper is better for artwork and just coloring with markers in general. So far in this sketchbook, I only have about three-four drawings/illustrations in it, and most of them are pencil, since that is basically what I have with
me on a day to day basis. I have plans on using some other medium on one or two of the drawings in there.

Overall, all of the materials & colors I used worked out pretty well, and hopefully this will turn into a 6-12 piece collection.

Eye Illustration

For some reason, I find drawing eyes, is just awesome. I think its amazing how the eye has so many specs, and detail. So this is one of my many other eye illustrations I have recently done.

Inspirational Illustration

I just wanted to share a piece I just did for fun. I've been meaning to draw Minnie Mouse for quite some time now, and I finally got an idea to do an inspirational beauty/fashion quote with her in it. Since Minnie Mouse is so fashionable and awesome, I chose the quote: "Different is Beautiful"
